Auto Insurance Coverages

Automobile insurance protects you against financial loss if you have an accident.  An automobile policy provides several different types of coverage.

Liability Coverage
- Pays for bodily injury or property damage to others for which you are legally responsible due to an auto accident.

Medical Payments Coverage
– Pays for medical expenses for you, your family members and passengers if you’re involved in an accident in your car or as a pedestrian regardless of liability.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage
– Pays for bodily injury for you and your passengers if a driver with either no insurance or an insufficient amount of coverage causes the accident.

Uninsured Motorist Property Damage Coverage
- If you do not carry any collision coverage on your vehicle it is also possible to buy Uninsured Motorist Property Damage coverage.  This provides coverage for your vehicle if you are involved in an accident with a hit and run driver or a driver with no insurance.   A deductible applies to this coverage.

Collision Coverage
– Pays for damage to your vehicle that results from a collision.  This coverage is subject to a deductible.  The higher your deductible, the lower your premium.

Comprehensive Coverage
– Pays for non-collision damage to your vehicle.  Some examples of this are fire, theft, vandalism, glass breakage and contact with animals.  This coverage may be subject to a deductible.

Towing and Labor Coverage – Pays for towing of your disabled vehicle.  Also provides coverage for a locksmith if your keys are locked in your vehicle.

Rental Reimbursement Coverage
– Provides a daily amount for a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired due to a covered loss.

Loan/Lease Gap Coverage
– Provides coverage for the difference between the market value of your leased or financed car and what you still owe for the vehicle in the event of a total loss.
